| Hi,
Everyone talks about AeAe, but no one talks about the other varigated varieties. Is there some reason for this? Is there a problem with the other varieties? |

| After looking at a really old tropical plant book I realized that AeAe has been around for quite a while, and is more widely available than others. I haven't wanted one since they are finnicky for a variegated banana plant, and I have a cold greenhouse. I'm no expert but there does seem to be problems with some(not all), but they are obvious, like wrinkly leaves etc. Then there are alot with minimal variegation, or fine striping, or yellow colors instead of white (lime green also). AeAe is picture perfect if you like alot of white, but there's a few others that seem to have as much, if not more white. I wish I could get my hands on a semi-cold hardy one. Maybe a Musa sikkimensis 'Red Tiger' with tons of white running through it, making a leaf with green, red, pink, and white......just dreaming. |
