First year growing, but i'm going to stick with a 29-3-4 (grass fertilizer). I'm guessing nitrogen is what is most needed for a nonfruiting banana. There should be a FAQ for this forum!

bluesgarden, I was told the high numbers fertilizer like 16-16-16 and fish emulsion. Been two years in banana planting, so still have plenty to learn. One thing for sure--they like fertilizer and water. As to how much of all that, I'm still finding out what's best. Right now, my bananas just got their new drip irrigation and they get watered on alternate days. I read that they can get root rot if they don't get a chance to dry out. Just got my bottle of fish emulsion tonight and will try it tomorrow.
I'm sure some who have more experience with bananas will share with you their stories.

Triple 15 or 16 is cheap and works just fine.
