I've never seen that before. What type of Banana's are they? It almost looks like mold. Could it be that they don't get enough sunshine or too much water? I hope someone out there knows!!! Diana55

I don't know what kind of bananas they are -- they were planted before we moved in. I do know that whatever they are, they're very common in my area. Seems like everyone has them... I don't think it's mold -- we've had very little rain and I haven't watered them.

Any other guesses? I'm thinking about chopping the spotted ones down in hopes that whatever is won't spread to the rest. We have more than 50 of them all along our fenceline....

i wouldnt chop them down i have a few of the same spots only on my basjos though not the abyssinian or little prince or superdwarfs or high colors or zebrinas i doubt it is contagious ive never been able to find out what it is ive even taken them to greenhouses because i live in richmond va and bananas are not in abundance here they just look at me funny and say i dunno i think itll be ok if u ignore them i have

Fire or Ice.
Tender leaves can get sunburned through tiny dew drops. Or...Tiny dew droplets, when frozen can cause black spots,ie. a late frost!

It's weather related, cold weather can cause it, as well as damp weather. If it bothers you a lot, cut off the affected leaves. The next leaves, grown in better weather, should be unaffected.
