Leaf stuck inside pseudostem

A month ago or so I removed a pup from my indoor Musa basjoo and planted it in its own pot. It was big enough it had its own roots and corm. There has been no growth since, and I just figured it was developing roots and the like. Today I pulled off a dead outer leaf and I discovered a new leaf that is peeking through the top has become crumpled up and stuck inside the pseudostem and is actually bursting through the pseudostem wall. Any ideas on what action to take? I hate to start cutting away the few leaves it has in order to try to free the crumpled leaf, especially on such a young pup, but doing nothing might kill it too... I'll add a picture to this post later this afternoon when I get home.

Thanks for the advice !
