Transplanting Dwarf Musa

rridgeback

Hello

I have two rapidly growing "ultra" dwarf Musa Cavendish plants. I moved then from their 4 inch pots about a year and on month ago. They are kept in my small, very cool [57 F during Winter] greenhouse with most of my fruiting citrus. The citrus does great out there!

In this, slightly over e year, they have grown enormously! Two main stems each at about 3 inches in diameter at the base and three smaller shoots coming along.

I have just been able to get around [spinal injury] and have been transplanting since March. But, the last time I moved one of these bananas, it was dead by the end of the week. These two suck up any water in a day. There is no where for the water to go. I placed a saucer under them and water from there.

Can I safely move them from their 10 home into two new larger [ 2 -3 inch diameter] pots? I would hate to lose another year re-growing two new ones. These are perfect for my 90=/- square foot greenhouse, as they reach about 3 feet at maturity.

Any ideas out there????

Thanks!
