I've got a couple hundred coming, but not sure when they'll get here? I guess they can be tough to germinate.

How do you germinate them quick?

I just ordered 1,000 Musa sikkimensis X paradisica cross, and they seem to be easier to sprout than regular sikkimensis, so if your interested I should(hopefully makes it from India safe and sound) have them in a couple weeks. Send me a private message/email if interested. I'm basically just a hobbiest trying to get larger amounts of seeds, at a cheaper price since the most you can find of this species in the states is packets of 10 seeds. Also ordered a new Musa balbisiana 'Gigantea' that isn't available anywhere, but who knows how hardy it is.

out of 10 wild banana seeds I got at Xmas time from UK,
only 2 germinated,one I planted in the ground a month ago has doubled in size,couple feet tall or better,the other still in the 160z styafoam cup is around a foot tall,took about 3 months for germination.

I planted some back during the 1st week of Feb. and put them in a greenhouse I have access to. The directions from the company I bought them from stated that all they do is plant them and keep them moist. About 6 weeks ago, I pricked them out and lightly filed the seed coat as none of them had germinated. Finally, with no sign of germination still, I dug them out of their pots yesterday and have been soaking them in water for almost 24 hours now, with plans to replant this afternoon. We'll see what happens. I also planted some fresh M. velutina seed last week. No special treatment on them either.
