From my understanding, this is a solid zone 9 plant that will NOT come back in your area. You could dig it up and bring it inside during the winter - I think. Maybe someone with actual experience with this could tell more.

I agree, they don't seem like the hardiest type of banana. I had one in my garage over winter that rotted by the spring. BUT...they are very nice plants, short trunks with wide paddle shaped leaves.

Search on this forum for dormant storage or cold storage. There are many threads about it. It involves cutting the leaves, digging them up and keeping them in a cool/dark place without letting them freeze. I cannot lend that much advice for optimal temp because mine stay too warm and always die back to the corm but for the last two winters I have kept dwarf cavendish in the basement. Once you find a place with the correct cold temp they go completely dormant and you can keep the entire stalk, where it will wake up from the next spring.
