Picking my first home grown bananas!!!!

Dwarf Cavendish, flowered last November in the greenhouse, this was grown in the yard all summer, and dug up and put in a 55gallon plastic drum, cut in half.

Tonight I picked my first 2 bananas, the peelings were paper thin, around 6 inches long, and the sweetest banana I've ever tasted.

I traded a lady finger for Super dwarf cavendish about 3 years ago, planted her in a 30 gallon drum, she died over the winter, but gave out for pups, kept 2 traded 2.

The mother never got more than 3 to 4 ft,but this banana, which was a pup had a 7ft to 8 ft trunk.

The other pup was planted in the ground in another greenhouse, and has just sent it's paddle leaf last

Don friday, and today sending up what looks to be the flag leaf or flower, now the trunk on this banana is no more than 4ft or half of what his brother is,wonder why one stayed short like the mother and the other grew twice as much??

Not only that but took 6 months longer before it flowered??
