Rowe Red

I found a Rowe Red this spring at a local nursery and just couldnÂt pass it up. It is my first banana. I would really like to try and keep it alive this winter. Right now it is about 2 feet tall and has 2 pups. I have it in a pot where it gets full sun till noon and it seems to be very happy. I did a search here and didnÂt find many posts about this variety. Is it hard to grow and did I make a mistake getting it for my first one? I really want to keep it alive, and I would love to get it some friends.

This is probably the #1 most common ornamental banana sold anywhere. Grows like a weed here and is hardy here as well. Leaves burn off in winter but always comes back. You should be able to keep it as a houseplant in a sunny window in winter

It sure is attractive! Here are a few of mine, right after planting and wilted from the heat. The leaves are so eyecatching, against any greenery.

There are red leafed Musas that produce good fruit too.
