Ensete species don't pup. so take care of the one you have. It will last you for years in your zone, as it will be more slow growing and take much longer to eventually bloom than in warmer climates. Eventually though it will have to be replaced.

Yes, I found that out yesterday while researching, I did kind of wonder why I had no pups on that one, when all the rest of my overwintered bananas are pupping.
This year it will stay in the house.

Yes, this is definitely Ensete Maurelii. It is a great variety that will never sucker. At 15-20' it will have a giant flower. We also grow Ensete ventricosum which is green with a red stripe under the leaf. For more banana info check out, http://www.excelsagardens.com. Mail order is now available.
