That Mom has to be 25 ft tall. Uh-oh- I did not realize they get that tall, I may have a problem since mine is under a tree!
Good going with the pups! It looks like you divided some when they where 2 ft + tall and others when they where shorter. The tall ones are obviously happier (making leaves) than the short ones, though even the little ones still look ok.
Any hints on how much and how often you fertilized and with what. Also how did you divide them? Did you do anything special so you didn't hurt the Mom. You haven't gotten bananas yet from her?

This is far too cool! How old is the mom, may I ask? Your pictures bring me a renewed desire to own one soon. I've almost given up the idea about getting one since it's so hard to get one (and also expensive too). Plus there are other questions like whether it will survive in my growing zone. Anyway, thanks for the great pictures.

Hey Cagary, very nice. It has always been my desire to grow and fruit one. Finally, it is going to happen. My big mama threw a flag a few weeks ago and the bloom showed up about 10 days ago.

That's great. How old is the mother plant? How tall?

The mother was planted in April of 2005 as a 3' pup. In September of that year, Hurricane Rita hit Lake Charles and laid it and two pups over on the ground. I was able to get back into town about 5 days later and replanted. It did not grow much, if any, during the rest of the fall, none during the winter, and very little in 2006. In 2007, it took off. It is about 13' in pseudostem height. The base of yours looks to be the same size as mine. I took this picure this morning.
