Where To Buy Banana?

I cant believe that I have to ask this question. I live in Fort Lauderdale Fla. and I cant for the life of me, find a nursery that sells ANY kind of banana! Not even Lowes or Home Depot. I would LOVE to get my hands on an 'Ice Cream' banana pup, THAT would be the apex!, let alone some other specialty varieties. But I cant find even a plain old Cavendish!

Does anyone know any catalogs or website that I could go to , to get some pups, or where to go locally to get a few interesting varieties? For all the sad under-watered and underfed banana 'groups' I see in peoples yards, and they get big hands of fruit every year! I cant find 1 single tree!

Can someone lead me to the 'mother land' of banana trees?

Try Northern Tropics. Link is below. I bought several plants from there and they arrived very healthy. Plus there's a sale now where most of the banana plants are only $4.99!

Hi. I checked out this site...every plant is in a 3in pot, that is VERY small...to get it to fruiting size will take years. Greated the price is right, but a 3in pot, inches tall plants? I will be 100yo before I get fruit. How long did it take you to get fruit, IF you got any?? I am in south Fla...so they grow fast...but I was hoping to find pups like at least a foot all or more. Are you growing them just for decoration? Thanks for the lead, and if I have to buy my IceCream one at 3in pot size, I will buy it. But I was hoping for bigger.

"Going Bananas", probably the biggest banana nursery in the entire country, is just down the road from you in Homestead.

What more could you ask for? LOL

Sorry John. I forgot to go to that site. THAT is what i am looking for! Going to place an order tonight for my Ice Cream banana and a few others!!! THAT is the size I want and like you said...its right down the road, practically. Now I have to choose carefully or I'll go broke...FAST!
