banana stump left on top of the ground for 4mo and still growing

After moving all my plants to our new home, I had way too many banana plants. A few of the stumps were left on the ground back in early March. All three are still alive. I seperated two pups from one of the stumps and sent them off in a recent trade as extras.

I also found this picture I took of my kids playing with some banana pups I sent out on a trade. To the left of the kids you can see the brown dried out banana stumps piled in the first spot I placed them before I chopped the stalks up for mulch.

Y'all must be getting some of that Texas rain. We're in a stage 4 drought here and there hasn't been enough rain for anything to take root here.
