It sounds like you are giving it too much water!!! The soil should be moist, not wet. They hate to have wet feet!!! Try letting it dry out. You should "never" let it soak in water, and you didn't have to cut the top off. Leave it alone and let it dry out some. Give it some time. Diana55

Your Banana should be growing lots this time of year, unless you live in the North of Canada. I live in Vancouver British Columbia, and mine are growing like crazy!!! It's really warm here!!! Were do you live in Canada? Is your Banana in a pot, outside or in? Let me know how it goes!!! If you can post a picture of it that would help me to know whats wrong with it.
