Is the leaf damaged at the petiole or the leaf itself? The petiole is the stemmy part that joins the pseudostem of the banana. If the petiole is damaged, I would just cut it off where the damage is if you are concerned with possible infection to the plant. Bananas are usually quite strong plants though and even if you leave the damaged leaves alone, the plants will turn out ok. I would usually cut it off though just for a better look. If the leaf is being shredded, I would leave it alone. Banana leaves often get shredded by strong winds or accidents caused by yard animals, or even ourselves when we move them around.

The center of the leaf itself was bent when putting into the van. Not the leaf joing the stalk. The leaves were touching the top of van because it was so tall. Thank you for your help
