 o
Musa Basjoo timing question

I have a question which hopefully someone here can answer. In a cold weather temperate zone (usda 5b) how late can a Basjoo be planted and still be expected to put on enough growth to have a stab at surviving the winter outdoors? I have just transplanted some sword suckers (ranging in height from 1 to 2 1/2 feet tall). I probably only have between 2 and 3 more months of frost-free weather. Does anyone have any idea as to whether these plants could get large enough to make it with mulching this year?
Thanks in advance, any shared experiences would be welcomed!

RE: Musa Basjoo timing question

I planted some basjoos at this time last year and they're back and bigger than ever. As long as you water well and protect this winter, they should be fine.
