I bought my first Musa Basjoo this year from a local nursery, it was about 3 ft. tall and did'nt have any red on the leaves but it has a deep jungle green which is quite a bit darker than any of the other bananas that I have. Hope this helps.

It doesn't look like a basjoo to me. None of mine have had any blotches of red on the leaves like that. You should contact them and see if they'll fix the problem. Basjoo should have a red midrib at that age, but that would be all the red it should have.

You're right about it not being a Basjoo. I would venture a guess that it's a Kru. However, I'm no expert and could be way off! Beautiful plant though!

Yes, I'm sure I did not spill coffee on it, LOL. I did email the company I bought it from and sent the pics, but have not heard anything back. Yes, it is a nice looking plant, but would still like to know what the heck it is. I guess I'll do some research on the Kru and Williams (which I have never heard of) and see if it might be one of those.

hei there. looks like a musa sikkemensis to me. the leaves are not that destinct when te plant is still that young.
Anyone agree?? The leaves looks more shiny than basjoo to.

Well, I looked on the site that I got this plant from and they are out of stock on the Sikkemensis, but they do sell the Kru. I still have not heard anything from them. I am just going to assume it is a Kru. They are not as cold hardy as the basjoo, but I keep most of my bananas in pots anyway. Thanks for all of your suggestions.
