When do sword suckers develop normal leaves?

Hello.

I have a 2.5' tall Musa Super Dward Cavendish (in a pot). It's putting out lots of sword suckers and a few water suckers (today I removed them). Just yesterday did I find out that sword suckers are superior to water suckers.

My question is when do sword suckers start to put out normal leaves? At whay height? Number of leaves?

How many leaves do sword suckers must have before separating? (And please don't say that they must be at least 1 ft tall :), because that's what I keep reading, but I believe it's true only for the bigger varieties... I couldn't wait that long... Musa Super Dwarf Cavendish, I read, only grows to about 1,2 metres... (3 ft))

There is no set height or number of leaves that a sword sucker will grow to or put out before sending up normal leaves. The taller a sword sucker is before starting to push out normal leaves, the stronger the plant. There is no real relationship between number of leaves on an individual pseudostem and the right time to separate. Obviously, the larger the pup, the more roots it will have developed and the better chance of survival. But I've seen nubs separated from the mother with only one leaf and survive. Generally, the more robust growing the pups are, the better chance for their survival from separation.
