Bought another basjoo today

I bought another basjoo today the thing was 4.5 feet tall in a 4 inch pot. I asked the lady why such a small pot - she said they like small pots - they won't grow if they have nothing beside their roots . This started me thinking this is why alot of basjoos are growing so slowly.

I was wondering why mine was growing so slow in the ground this year, but a little bit of manure and fish emulsion, and now it seems to be taking off.
