Unfortunately, the bananas won't have time to mature. I assume you know they are not edible, right? Have you tried humic acid?

Thanks for the info, I did know they were not edible but wanted to see if I could get seeds. I am not familiar with humic acid, what is it and what is it for?

By the way, the first blossom opened today with one "ring" of flowers. I'll try to post a pix soon

I think they have to be pollinated for you to get seed, but I'm not exactly sure about that. The first flowers emerging are the male flowers, then the female (bananas). I think you have to have male and female flowers present at the same time to get cross pollenation (like two blooms at different stages). But don't quote me on that! Perhaps you can save some of the pollen from the male flowers? Please anyone jump in here.

Yes, I can't imagine why one would want to try to grow these from seed. I've got so many pups coming up right now it's crazy. Will have to cut them out or else they will start to take over my yard!

I saw this banana listed in a local (Manitoba) seed catalogue (they were under a section titled "patio plants") and they had where you could order plants for spring delivery, or seeds. I ordered seeds. Out of 10 seeds, only two sprouted, but they are growing fairly well and impressive, despite poor weather. Then again, they like moisture and humidity I guess.

At what age do they start to produce pups? I am debating on how to store this guy over winter as I don't have a cold room. Will storage work in a 60F dark basement?
