Not just my banana (Musa basjoo) but my entire garden, as viewed from my roof. The banana is about 6 years old and gets no protection other than a big pile of mulch and half-finished compost in the winter. It generally dies to within a couple of inches of the ground (but about 12" of pseudostem survived this past winter, which was unusually mild) but comes back with a vengeance every spring! It and has gotten so vigorous that this spring I cut out about half the clump to keep it from taking over my yard! BTW even the oldest corms were still fat and healthy-looking; they all stay connected underground and continue to play a role by storing water and starch for the clump even when they no longer produce pups.
