Every banana plant has the potential to grow bananas, I think. Or is your question whether or not they are edible? I think you could Google 'Musa sikkimensis' and get a lot more information about it. My guess is it's primarily grown as an ornamental.

And bananas are not actually trees, they are large herbs with a 'fleshy' pseudostem made up of layers and layers of petioles and the mother plant dies after flowering, but not before it send up pups. Some can attain the height of trees.
