I love the sikkis and have two in the ground.they are more aggressive than my basjoos.I hope they will overwinter with protection in zone 6.Have a potted ensete maurelii that is nice but kind of "squat", chubby and short.Also a potted raja puri that is doing well.It is nice to go out in the morning and see daily growth that you never get with palms.

One of my favorites for summer tropical look is the Bordelon. It has really nice red blotched leaves, with a deep burgundy underside which looks great blowing in the wind. As a plus, it's the fastest growing, most prolific pupper I've ever seen. It will carry through winter in my 45-50 degree greenhouse with hardly any change to it's leaves overwinter. My three footers are now 12 feet tall that I potted up this spring.

Did you know you can get a bordelon banana plant with a 7 foot trunk in a Ford Cougar without breaking the leaves, provided the driver is the only person in the car? I just found that out with a Bordelon, a few minutes ago...So they're pretty flexible too!

This is my smallest dwarf cavendish,which the top of the leaf is about 12 ft tall,It should have fruited this summer,being it's it 3 rd summer,I have another whose pups are bigger than this one in the pic,and it hasn't fruited either!!
The leaves hold up to the kansas winds better than any other variety,Close second would be the Raja puri,for all the same reasons,3rd would be the ensetes especailly the red mur.
