You got a banana to fruit! Good for you, that's awesome. Some of the southern folks may take it for granted, but up here towards the north, it's an accomplishment! If you want a banana jungle, you got the right plant, lol....., some of the bananas will produce small pups like crazy and before you know it, you'll wish you didn't have so many banana plants growing. Since your banana may be starting to flower, it will be too late for the bananas to ripen on the plant. The best idea is to wait right before the first frost and then pick the bananas, take them inside and hope they ripen. Putting the banana fruit inside a plastic bag with an apple may rapidly cause ripening, but all that depends on how far the flowers have fruited. There was a post on this banana forum about a guy who had a banana stalk that just started to flower and got it to survive winter. Let me see if I can find it for you........AHHHHH, here it is.
