What are those bananas?

Does anyone know what the name of the tree is of the bananas that you buy in the grocery store?

Hay. It is called Grand Nain. This is the fruit you find at your local grocery store. Just bought a plant from going bananas in Homested Florida. Robert

Depends on whether they are Chiquita or Dole. Could be Gran Nian or Dwarf Cavendish.

I bought two Grand Nain plants sixteen inches tall at Home Depot here in Nothern Illinois for $2.99 each about three weeks ago, check with your local HD or Lowes if they have an outdoor garden center, they have some end of season deals that are amazing.

Hmmm i went to home depot and lowes they didnt have any...but i bought some cannas and hosta :P i hate going to nurseries and i get tempted by buying other things :P its ok well thanks ill just keep checking :D thanks alot

I have been researching what varietys we eat. Del monte seems to be Williams hybrid while dole and Chiquita seem to be grand nain. Both appear to be from the cavendish grouping.
