Late Bloomer.

My Orinoco just sent up the flag leaf, I think. It is a short leaf and from pictures I have seen looks like the flag leaf but also looks like the start of another leaf after that, or is that how the bloom begins? The tip of the newer leaf or whatever it is after the flag leaf has a purplish look to it. If it is going to bloom and I live in NC will the bananas have enough time to get big enough to be able to cut the bunch and them ripen? Thanx.

((It shouldn't frost for a couple months at least))

Congratz on the bloom. It is not likely they will have time to ripen at full size. Cut them before the first frost and bring them inside let them turn yellow. They may not be full size, but they still may be edible and tasty.

Would I be able to dig it up and pot it or would that cause stress? I read here before that Orinoco does not taste all that good but I would love to have some!
