I'm in the same predicament Shirleen. I have read and am going to try the following:
When the leaves begin to yellow and before the first frost, chop off the truck just above ground level, dig the roots up, remove excess soil, then wrap roots in newspaper and place in plastic bag. Store in cool dark place where temp will stay above freezing. Replant roots in early spring after last frost.
Don't know it will work but worth a try. Mine is pretty large so I surely don't have any room for it inside as it stands and I know it won't winter over outside here and we are pretty much in the same zone.

There's no need to chop the trunk down, just cut off all the leaves as close as possible to the stem, and leave the newest leaf in place or trim it if it is large. Then dig up the rootball and either put it into a pot or a bag, and store it somewhere cool, dark and dry with ventilation. I don't see any benefit in removing the excess soil, if you keep it then it will help the roots from drying out completely.

They are handled just as easily as Musa and will overwinter with the same success. If you want a headstart, wake up the plant by putting it somewhere warm, moist and bright about 4-6 weeks before you plan on planting it outside. Near a sunny window is perfect.

The biggest problem I have had are aphids and mealies in late winter/ early spring but they are easily eradicated with soap water sprays and other similar concoctions.
