Hi Travis,

I'm new at this and have 2 new bananas. I had asked the man at the nursery this same question and he said one last fertilizing was ok. I did this a few days ago. I am so excited about bananas that I am shopping for more. I'm in Central California and the way it looks right now it will be a while before we see frost. I know getting information from a pro (here)is better, but I'm just letting you know what was told to me.

I would think that it would depend on when your first frost is expected. If it's in October like here, what's the point? But if it's later on, it might not hurt to try and get a little more growth on them.
It would also depend on if they're potted or in the ground.

I believe most bananas stop growing no matter what when the temps drop below 50 degrees, so even if you're still fertilizing, they should be able to adjust for colder weather. The way I look at it, the more you fertilize, the larger and more established a banana will be.
