Those domestic sellers on ebay are reputable. I can't vouch for the ones from Thailand. The normal internet nurseries for Ae Ae have dried up and the demand is now far exceeding the supply. Expect to pay between $100 and $200 but if I were you, I would wait until the spring. These bananas are very tempermental and take quite a while to begin growing again after being shipped. Any plant you would buy now would only be able to put out one or two leaves before cooler weather sets in. They are not cold tolerant bananas and in your zone, you would need to provide winter protection by container growing it and moving it into a greenhouse or your house. They are barely able to live in Zone 9a in the ground.

I live in Florida... I am thinking a few of the pups may be ready late Jan/Feb Ae Ae's are very slow growers and want to wait until the pups are closer to 2ft. They are about 6 inches tall or so now...

Martha's on ebay is a good source of ae ae. It's where I got mine from, and I've had good luck with it now for over a year. Others I've talked to have had the same results.

Are these available only at certain times of the year?

It appears as though Martha's Secret has Ae Ae available now for $250.
