Basjoo and the Mighty Mite

miraclegrower

This is a Basjoo that had some serious mite damage. The plant drooped and looked like an umbrella, growth almost came to a stand still. New growth was wrinkled, and torn in some areas. The outer edges of the leaves become dry as the mites feasted. The stem became yellow.

To the naked eye, the mites were undetectable, since they live under the leaves.

Under the leaves lay thousands of tiny mites. Sucking the juices, depriving the plant of nutrients.

Remedy: gentle spraying of water under the leaves for several days to wash them out.

Plant should make a come back.
