| I would like to plant some fruit producing banana trees on my property, and my local nursury has not been much help. If any of you could suggest a fruit banana tree that would grow well in my area I would great appreciate it.
This is a general idea of what I am looking for:
1. Medium to tall tree
2. Fast growth rate
3. Fruiting type of banana tree (size of fruit is not important, but I would like one of the sweeter tasting varieties).
4. My property is close to Waco, TX (Between Austin and Dallas)
5. Soil is mostly clay
6. Temperatures are 100's during the summer and mostly in the 40's & 50's during the winter. We always have 3 or 4 days where the temp drops in the high 20's, but it climbs back to the 40's or 50's quickly.
7. Drought conditions during the summer months of June - August, however, I can water them as needed. Very wet fall, winter, and Spring.
I would also like to know of a nursery that sells them online....if any.
Thank you, in advance, for your help.

| Sounds like you're more in zone 8 than 7? You might try a Dwarf Orinoco. |

| ice cream, rajapuri, dwarf or tall orinoco, dwarf namwah is a good one but a little shorter than what you wanted. Saba is a very tall one that's shown some good hardiness down south. I can't mention a nursery on line that sells them since I'd get in trouble here! Not allowed to promote, etc. if you have a business. |
