I have a huge ice cream banana tree. It's producing lots of fruit right now. The first hand was coming along nicely then the trunk seemed to bend over and die and the hand of bananas turned black and stopped growing. I just cut down the 2nd hand because this trunk started doing the same and I didn't want to lose the bananas. I don't think it's been near 6 months since they flowered so I'm thinking this hand may not ripen off the tree. Is this something that happens because the hand is too heavy. My husband seems to think the trunk is too wet and it rotted. Any advice? Thanks!!
