Musa Bajoo-over-wintering

I have a 2 year old Musa that has been in a pot for 2 years. It has about 4 pups ranging from 2 inches to 4 feet. Can I take them out of the pot and put them in the ground over winter? While I am at it, I would like to take 1 of the pups off and bring it inside. Do you reccommend this? Also, what kind of mulch should I cover the plant with? Is hay or straw ok? Any other suggestions will be appreciated......Thankyou

I'd be scared to do it this time of year.I wouldnt want to take it out the pot and put it in the ground now. But iam a novice. My basjoo has been in the ground since last week of July07. Its stem is only like 2and half ft. Iam digging it up. potting it,and put it in the basement with the rest. Good luck! There is such a wealth of info here. Look around. These gardeners are great. I know you'll find the answer. OHgirl
