banana tree (winter)

I live in a zone 5. My banana tree has became quite large.

In the pass I would bring in to my garage and keep it under a grow light for the winter and then back out for the summer. It never did to well but, it never died. Does anyone think it might make it though our winter outside?

Can I cut off it leaves and it take it inside for the winter? Because, that will be the only way to get in my garage.

Not happening outside without some sort of juryrigged greenhouse setup. De-leafing will probably work, but will stress it severely and affect size and quantity of fruit when it finally flowers.
