Banana noob - Help me ID my new tree?

Hi! I have never EVER had a banana tree before, but I seem to have acquired one! It appears to be healthy and thriving, and I hope to keep it that way. I was wondering if someone here might be so kind as to help me ID my tree? I assume it is a Cavandish (that's one of the varities, right?), but I am so new to this, I may be way off base.

I bought the tree from a lady on craigslist, and she did not know what it was. All she knew was that it was getting too big for her living room.

She told me to water it 1 qt a day. I think the current soil may be a bit heavy for what is ideal, and it desperately needs to be potted up. It will live in my living room all winter, and go out for daytime hours on the deck in the summer. But it will always be in at night, even in the summer.

It's the dwarf Cavendish I'm thinking because the leaves are closer together. I have the regular Cavendish which grows very tall and the leaves are more spread out and also the dwarf and superdwarf.

Your plant is a very good looking plant. It's amazing you can plant anything anywhere these days--banana in Alaska sounds pretty cool to me.

Thanks for the help! I am really excited about this tree, it really makes my living room feel super cozy. I hope I can get it to fruit, that would be just awesome to eat home grown bananas in Alaska!

I think that might be a Dwarf Cavandish, too. I read somewhere that the younger plants have that red on the leaves. I am super new, so could be really wrong!
