Dwarf Cavendish OverWintering Question

Hi all. I have a Dwarf Cavendish that was given to me July 29th of this year at about 1' tall, by a great friend here on GW. Now that it is getting colder, I need to be bringing it in.

From what I understand, it will not flower if allowed to go dormant?

So I set up some grow lights in an unused bathtub, and plan on putting the nanner in there for winter as I dont have a good southern window.

I have read that to allow them to go dormant/semi-dormant in a cool basement, I could cut off all leaves except the top unfurled one.

So, if I want to bring it in and keep it going *crossing fingers & knocking on wood* Can I cut off the lower leaves and just leave the top 5? Which includes the current unfurled leaf. Then as more leaves come up and grow out, can I just keep it to a 5 leaf maximum throughout the winter? Or will this weaken the psuedostem?

Right now it is a lil over 5' tall, including the unfurled leaf, over 4'wide, and has 12 leaves, and 2 small pups about 6" and 4".

What do you guys think?

TIA,

Daniella
