I may be wrong but I dont think a 100 watt bulb will give the correct type of light needed to grow anything. The 8 hours of sunlight will likely be enough to sustain your plant until spring when it goes outdoors(if the plan is to put it outdoors)

Your Basjoo will more than likly go dormant for lack of light.. Which is not a bad thing.. The leaves will yellow and turn brown just cut them off.. Make sure not to over water and it should be ready to go outside come spring..

Bananas demand ALOT of light, and a small bulb just doesn't do the job. I have a 400W Na fixture above the seedlings, and that seems to be OK for now. Strong southern sunlight is allways best though.

Chena, I would have to disagree with you on this one. For banana-plants to go dormant, you need low (but not freezing)temperatures, about 40-50 degrees. If it's warm and dark, they will simply die. To handle the stress of beeing dormant, a banana-plant also needs to be of some good size.
