Moving house what to do with Banana Plant

Hi,

I bought a banana plant at The Hampton Court Flower show here in the UK in July but it didnt have a tag so I dont know what kind of Banana it is (I was told at the time but forgot ( I was told but I forgot!!) It has very green leaves and is very fast growing. The guy who sold it too me said it is one of the much hardier ones but I will need to remove the leaves and cover the main part of the plant with fleece. Firstly is this correct?

Also I am moving house and want to take it with me. It is currently in the ground and very healthy as we had a very hot summer here in South East London and a very rainy autumn. It looks like I will probably be moving in January/February next year when it usually snows here. Is it best to dig it up and put it in a large pot and cover it with fleece now? Or leave it in the ground and dig it up and put it in a pot when I move?

Thanks

Tina
