Can you make some kind of an enclosure over it that could be heated? What kind of temps do you have there, not familiar with the temps in Houston. You might have to grow it potted to bring it in to realize fully mature fruit.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it would be next to impossible, not to mention expensive. The winter temperatures here are usually not bad, usually 50s to 6s during the days and maybe down to 40s at night. But occasionally it does get down below 32 and this year we got about 2 inches of snow and the temp dropped to about 23, which is really out of the norm.

I might start one in a pot as well as trying to get the one in the yard to fruit. As well as growing to about 40 feet, it was made up of about 6 ot 7 stalks.

The tree grew to close to 40 feet high this summer. It was beautiful. I just need to try to get it to fruit earlier in the summer, so it will mature before cold weather.
