New banana plant, has it already fruited?

I had a gardener plant a banana tree. However, he failed to tell me two things and is not responding to my messages.
1. Should I cut down the larger one? I can't decide if it's fruited.
2. How would I determine, or get an idea, of the variety? Supposedly it's a sweet smaller sized fruit variety.
I know these are ignorant questions, but I'm totally new to this and left ignorant by not getting expected information from the community gardener. Maybe he will tell me in a couple weeks but I'm sure curious.
