| Hi bunti, I have had the same question for many moons. I just came back from the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Florida. I saw a Truly Tiny with bananas. They were positioned on top of the pseudostem and were 3 to 4 inches long and about 1-1/2" to 2" in diameter. My wife has some photos on her camera and will post a photo in a day or two when I can get it, if I can figure out how to post a photo here. Otherwise, I can send the link to my soon-to-be completed website. Also, I spent some time with a banana expert, Don at Going Bananas in Homestead, and he confirmed that Truly Tiny produces small, sweet, edible fruit. He also said it is common for Truly Tiny to produce fruit on top of the pseudostem, rather than hang down as it common on most banana plants (forgot what the reason was). |
