Mason Orchard Bees...

Hi my husband and I live on a l4 acre orchard and have until last year, always had bees on our land. The owner of those hives decided to charge us $300 for 3 hives for 3 weeks - it was cold, rainy and wet most of the time. We decided to look into Mason Orchard Bees this year.

Only our apple trees need them for pollination; so we wondered where the BEST place to get those bees suited to Kansas would be? I've heard bees from the northwest don't do so well the next year, and the amount of bees needed are a question for us, too.

Anybody have any info on good suppliers and their experience with these bees? Or has anybody gone from Blue Mason Bees to Hornedfaced bees?

Thanks!

RE: Mason Orchard Bees...

Maybe my question will cause a little interest in answering Shawnee's question.
A recent post mentioned being mason bees needing a sustaining amount of fruit trees for surival. I just want them as low maintenance perennial pollinators.
