New To Bees - PA

This will be the first full year that I have a property where I can keep bees. :o) I was thinking about starting out small with just one or maybe two hives. I know I want to keep one near my orchard, and maybe another next to my veggie field. I've been walking with someone from work that has bees, but I'd like to get more info and opinions. Where is the best place to get/order supplies (hives, bees, etc) Where is the best place to locate the bees, full sull, part shade, morning sun..? If I want to get started for this year, when should I have things ordered? Any info will be appreciated, in the meanwhile I'll be searching through old posts, assuming the search engine is working properly. Thanks In Advance

Around here full sun all day is okay. It's more important in the moring to warm up the hive. A little afternoon shade doesn't hurt. Order your bees Now while they are still available, many places sell out early. You can decide on which route to go as far as equipment and get that ordered in the next week or so. See if there are any supply houses within driving distance. That way you can see things first hand and get some good advice at the same time.
