Help - Dead Bees

Hello,

I have two bee hives upstate NY which I keep to pollinate my apple trees. Not much beekeeping experience.

After the extreme cold weather last week we now have spring like days. When I checked on the hives one of them had a lot of dead bees in front of the hive and a lot of agitated bees at the entrance, some cleaning up.

I saw many, rather large (1/16/to 1/8 inch) brownich spots on the slanted board in front of hive entrance.

Am I deeling with nosema, diarrhea or another disease or is this winter kill? If nosema can I treat at this time with Fumidil? Is there anything I should be doing?

Thank you in advance for any advice

Kathy
