My new-bee understanding is a planting of mint, etc in close proximity won't cut it. The bees have to essentially wallow in the oil/extract, to disrupt the mite life cycle. I made patties out of sugar/tea tree extract (from a health food store) and do not see mites in alarming numbers at all. But this is year one for me....

I did a google search on IPM, and found several articles that appeared well documented and consitent. I don't recall the authors at the moment...but do read up, there are some timing guidelines as well.
