Bumblebees Roosting on Porch Rail

Perhaps someone can help me understand what our bumble bees are up to. For the last several days we have had 20-30 bumble bees (NOT carpenter bees) "roost" up under the top rail of our front porch rail. Some roost alone, others clump together. All eventually leave the next morning once the air, or they, warm up enough to fly. They are quite large. We are blueberry farmers and totally understand the importance of protecting and nurturing our bee population. Why have the bees adopted our porch railing as their overnight roost? If it indicates a problem, what might we do to help our fuzzy friends?
