help with buying mason bees

NOTE: I apologize if these questions are stupid, but I've never done this before. I basically have no clue what I'm doing and could use advice, suggestions, etc.

The reason for doing so is issues with pollination; haven't harvested anything that requires insect pollination to set fruit.

Since I'll be devoting so much time, effort, and space to growing these things (zukes, cukes, winter squash, melons) I'd like the bees as an insurance policy.

Would now be the proper time to order them?

It says the cocoons/eggs require a period of dormancy before they hatch; does this mean cold weather?

The bees that are shipped out, I'm assuming they're just eggs, or are they live bees?

Also they carry nesters for the bees (a 'house' for them or less) but how do you put the eggs/cocoons in them?
