Wondering whether to get a small or larger smoker. I see sizes from 3.6 to 3 1/2 x 8 3/4 to 4.9, have you noticed advantages or disadvantages? I will have one to five hives. What about the dome tops? Thanks, Virginia

RE: smokers

The advantage to a larger smoker is not having to fill it in the middle of working your hives. My smoker is a rather small homemade one that is fine for 5 hives in one yard in most cases. I have 10 or more hives spread out in a couple of yards and it serves me fine. I've heard a few people say that they didn't like the dome tops, but I've never tried one, so it may be matter of preference. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x222/berkshirebee/homemade bee smoker/IM000630.jpg
