Bees in bird feeder

Yesterday i went out and bought a new bird feeder and set it up. this afternoon I noticed about 20 bees swarming around pulling out the bird seed and trying to get in. They weren't aggressive but one did get in my face when I got a few feet away from it. Is there something I can do to deter them or set something up they will like better? I want the bees just not in my bird feeder!

Yup, gotta see a photo or specific details. Doesn't sound like bees but...
Also, where are you exactly too would help narrow down once you provide good details and/or photo. If not, I could send photos of something to try and narrow it down.
How many bees and what kind of feed was it? Did the feed have beetle larvae in it and what you were really looking at was Vespula wasps eating the larvae? A stretch but until I see/hear more, too hard to say.
