bee keeping an option?

Hello,
I am a fruit grower and usually post in the fruits and orchards forum but I stopped in to this one and am fascinated. I grow fruit in one area that is in a neighborhood and another that is in an area that is near lots of people. Would beekeeping even be an option at all for someone like me? I would mostly want to have them for pollination of fruit trees and I know absolutley nothing on this subject. I think the natural bee popullation is ok in my area and in general I get fine pollination but I fear that as my area grows and population increases the natural bee pop. will decline. Anyway, I'm mostly trying to learn a little and I find this forum great.

Thanks,
Scaper

Sure it is an option for you, it would improve your fruit production plus it is an interesting hobbie and if you have a fruit stand you can sell honey along with the fruit.
"Fascinated" yes most of us are!!

If you are realy interested find a local club and join and see if they have classes or a mentor program, contact your county extension agent to find a local club.

"WE" think it is a FUN THING TO DO!!

Scaper, Yes beekeeping is definitely an option for ouy. I live about 1/2 mile from main street with houses on 3 sides and I keep 5 hives in my backyard without any problems. You may want to talk to neighbors and check for ordinances before getting your bees.
